ESTADOS–GERAIS é um ciclo de quatro exposições e eventos,
organizado por um grupo informal, de geometria variável, de jovens artistas portugueses. Em parceria com a associação Arte Contempo, o ciclo decorre entre 4 de Abril e 18 de Julho de 2009, no espaço da associação e, pontualmente, noutros locais da cidade de Lisboa. O ciclo insere-se na programação anual da Arte Contempo, estrutura financiada pelo Ministério da Cultura – DGArtes.

Partindo de preocupações dos diversos elementos da organização, o ciclo propõe-se como um espaço-tempo para a actualização, no contexto nacional, de debates e aproximações críticas comuns à arte contemporânea afirmando-se a necessidade de perpetuar um pensamento ético relativo às condições de produção e recepção, contra uma tendência de especulação efémera.

ESTATES – GENERAL

ESTATES–GENERAL is a cycle of four exhibitions and events
organised by an informal group of young Portuguese artists in partnership with Arte Contempo association.
The cycle runs at the association’s exhibition space and other venues around Lisbon between the 4th of April and the 18th of July of 2009.
The cycle is part of the association’s annual programme, being Arte Contempo a structure supported by the Ministry of Culture - DGArtes.
Following on from the interests of the various members of the group, the cycle proposes a space-time for the actualisation of debates and critical approximations common to contemporary art in a national context, affirming the necessity to perpetuate ethical thinking relating to conditions of production and reception, in contrast with a tendency for ephemeral speculation.
